Social Media Cross-Posting Done Right

Cross-posting on social media can save a lot of time - simply take a piece of content, post it on different channels at once, and you’re all done. Sounds simple, right?

As simple as it may sound, cross-posting on social media can make or break your social media efforts. If not done in the right way, this practice can make your accounts look like a terrible mess. In this blog, we’ll take a look at the different ways you can cross-post on social media effectively and maximize your opportunities as well.

Cross-posting can undeniably save you time but only if you do it right. You can use scheduling tools AgoraPulse or Hootsuite to set up your cross-posting process and once you’re on track, you can boost your online presence by effectively leveraging each social media platform.

Here's how you can do it -

Learn How Each Platform Operates

Before you start cross-posting on different social media platforms, you need to learn the language of each platform, understand how they operate and take note of what unique features they have. By understanding these elements, you will be able to optimize your posts for each network.

Also, learn about the various tools each network offers so that you can make individual posts work on each platform.

Work Up Your Network Strategy

All your posts are not meant to work on every social network - and that’s absolutely fine. What you can do is work up your network strategy by considering the tone of each network.

For example, it might not be a sensible idea to post a fun, behind-the-scenes photo on the company’s LinkedIn profile but the same would make an interesting Instagram story for the brand. This will also give you a chance to show your creativity even when you’re posting the same content on each platform.

Optimize Your Content

Once you are acquainted with how each platform operates and have gained an understanding of what works where, you can optimize posts that you want to cross-post, for each specific network.

You can showcase your creative skills and use the various network specific tools available to transform your posts in accordance with the requirements of the platform you’re posting to.

Some posts will work well across platforms with just a few small tweaks such as modifying descriptions to meet character limits, adding or removing hashtags, and juggling with words. But for others, you might have to completely refurbish the post by taking into account the network on which it’ll be posted and using tools available on the specific platform.

Cross-posting will save you a lot of time, but if you do it in the right way it will not only help you keep your social media profiles active and healthy, but also help attract new followers and expand your reach.
